Lisa Marie and her twin sister Priscilla were two stray kittens that picked us as their “forever home” in the fall of 1995. They were tiny little kittens just barely old enough to be away from their mother. They ran up our driveway late one night, as our then teenage son arrived home. He heard squeaking noises and turned around to find two cute little kittens running toward him. We took them inside “just for the night”. We were sure that they were lost, but our newspaper ads did not find an owner. We immediately fell in love with them and they joined a home that already had two adult cats. Lisa Marie has outlived the three other cats in our home and is now an only child. She loves getting all of the attention of being an only child. Lisa Marie’s favorite things to do are going to Sonic to check out the action from the car’s dash and taking naps. Her naps are always a little better if she can find a sunny spot.
In September, Lisa Marie suffered a stroke. Her legs would not hold her up. She would fall down with each step she tried to take. Dr. Fisher told us that she would try to put Lisa Marie back together. She succeeded! At first, Lisa Marie went to ABC every day for an IV. After a few days, she started receiving her IVs at home and this continued for 5 weeks. She also had to be fed food and water by a syringe for 2 weeks. So she would not hurt herself when she fell down, she was kept in a baby playpen at home until she was stronger and able to stand again. She received laser treatments at ABC for about 4 weeks on her back.
Each day, Lisa Marie’s health would get a little better. She is now back to her old self. She does take daily doses of thyroid and high blood pressure medication. She is also on an appetite stimulant twice a week. We look forward to loving and spoiling Lisa Marie every day for the rest of her life.
Everyone at ABC was astonished to see how well Lisa Maria rebounded from her treatments. We were so glad that the laser therapy seemed to make her more comfortable. We love Lisa Marie!
