Dr. Stephen Fronefield, DVM, DABVP – Avian
Dr. Fronefield graduated from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. He also received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in chemistry while attending Auburn University. He opened ABC Animal & Bird Clinic in Sugar Land in 1995 and moved into their beautiful new facilities in 2000. Dr. Fronefield became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners specializing in avian practice in 1998. He is one of only seven veterinarians in the state of Texas that hold this specialty of avian specialization certification. He has a special interest in imaging techniques for diagnostic evaluation of his patients. This includes digital radiography, ultrasound, and endoscopy.
Dr. Fronefield’s pet population at home consist of two poodles (Jesy and Kate), three Giant Geckos (Velvet, Hershey, and Spot) and two freshwater aquariums. He has two sons who are both in pre-vet med at Texas A&M. His wife works at home and behind the scenes to support clinic operations. Dr. Fronefield enjoys and appreciates the time he can spend with his family. He also enjoys camping, fishing, cycling and riding his motorcycle.
Dr. Kimberly Roset
Dr. Kimberly Roset, a 2001 graduate of Texas A&M, grew up in the Austin area and attended Texas A&M University, where she obtained two bachelor degrees and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. While attending Texas A&M, she was involved in numerous organizations which furthered her knowledge of avian and exotic medicine and spent her summers in avian research. After graduation in 2001, she joined ABC Animal & Bird Clinic and has enjoyed seeing many different species of companion small animals. Dr. Roset also enjoys the challenge of feline medicine, dentistry, surgery, and ultrasonic imaging.
Dr. Roset’s experience goes beyond animal medicine, from her attention to detail and her broad education, she is quite proficient in the medical specialties of surgical procedures and digital imaging diagnostics. She is able to evaluate and serve her patients better and is a proud member of ABC Animal and Bird Clinic. Her favorite part of her job is that every day presents a different challenge.
In addition to a busy professional life, Dr. Roset shares her home with her two young boys (Aidan and Ian). She has 3 cats (Sampson, Apollo, and Calix) who tolerate the humans in their house, 2 Australian Shepherds (Cub and Comet), and a ball python named Snape. She volunteers regularly with the Boy Scouts of American and supports her sons’ goals of becoming Eagle Scouts. Furthermore, she enjoys traveling and activities such as triathlons, scuba diving, camping, and sketching.
Dr. Janet Fisher, DVM
VeterinarianDr. Fisher has been in veterinary medicine for 41 years. February 2019 marks her 13th year at ABC! Before joining our team, she had her own AAHA certified practice for 25 years. Dr. Fisher also spent 2 years in emergency medicine (where she also held the position of Secretary). She has been a previous board member of several area groups including the Doberman Pinscher Club Biological Committee (also a past President) and Harris County Veterinary Medical Association (HCVMA). She has been the President of the DPC of Houston (she previously showed Dobies as well!) and the Harris County Veterinary Medical Foundation (HCVMF). As a result, we benefit from her many years of knowledge and skills in the Veterinary field!
She enjoys the vast variety of pets, procedures, and clients we see here at ABC. She likes working with pet parents to find solutions to their furry, feathered family member’s illnesses.
At home, Dr. Fisher has two cats, Jinx, who is 16 years old, and Briggs, who is 10 years old. She also has 3 Sun Conures, Pretzel, Twix, and Frito who all have leg issues.
Dr. Fisher enjoys gardening, reading, walking, bird and nature watching, and yoga. Dr. Fisher also volunteers at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the reception area greeting patients and escorting them to their destinations.
Dr. Melissa McNeil
VeterinarianDr. Melissa McNeil earned both her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. Following graduation, she completed an internship at the Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine in Bothell, Washington, where she focused on emergency, primary, and preventative care for avian, reptile, and small mammal companion animals.
Dr. McNeil’s special interests include animal behavior, stress-free animal interaction, surgery, and research. Dr. McNeil previously worked with the Schubot Exotic Bird Health Center as part of their PDD/Avian Bornavirus research. She has also volunteered with the Scarlet Macaw Project, an ongoing conservation project in Peru. She is currently working toward becoming a boarded specialist in Exotic Companion Mammals.
Dr. McNeil and her husband are both Houston natives but recently moved back to the area from Boston. They have two dogs named Indiana and Albert, a Sulcatta Tortoise named Francis, and an African Grey named Rosie. When Dr. McNeil is not working, she enjoys baking, traveling, spending time with her four-legged and winged family members and, of course, supporting the Fightin’ Texas Aggies and Houston Astros.
